To the Kings Most Excellent Majesty, 1734.

Collection consists of one 19-page document "To the Kings Most Excellent Majesty" with the phrase, "In the Council Chamber," and dated April 9, 1734. It is a memorial and plea to the King for assistance in defence against the French and Spanish. It describes the castle of St. Augustine, Canadian travelers on the Mississippi, the hold the French had over various Indian tribes, and Fort Lewis. Winning the good will of certain tribes is discussed, such as the Creek and Choctaws. The Council notes that in all of Ga. and S.C. there are only 3500 men able to bear arms and so defence from the sea and the back country is needed. The situation in N.C. is different due to ample slave labor.
